The antique car era includes the Veteran era, the Brass era, and the Vintage era, which range from the beginning of the automobile up to the 1970s. Later cars are often described as classic cars.
• Hot Rod: Classic American car modified with performance parts, especially large engines, for extra speed and power.
• Street Rod: Classic American car modified with performance parts. There is debate over what dates or performance parts separate street rods from hot rods.
